| Assistant Professor - Mechanical Engineering Technology FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering Technology, with a focus on manufacturing, heat, and thermal engineering, beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. With eleven full-time faculty members and a robust pool of part-time instructors, the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department offers Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Industrial Design Technology, and a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Mechanical Engineering Technology. The Mechanical Engineering Technology programs are accredited by ETAC/ABET. The Assistant Professor will provide teaching and scholarly services in the following areas: Track 1- Advanced Manufacturing, Strength of Materials, Engineering Materials, Machine Design, Finite Element Analysis, Rapid Prototyping, Machine Design. Track 2- Fluid Mechanics, Thermal engineering, Heat Transfer and HVAC Engineering. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, the Assistant Professor will conduct research and scholarly activities in Advanced Manufacturing as well as Heat and Thermodynamics and HVAC systems, and provide service to the department, the college, and the university, in such areas as curriculum development, external collaboration, grant writing and ABET accreditation. Tenure-track faculty members will be expected to maintain a balance between teaching (40%), research (30%) and service (30%). QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
COMPENSATION $76,937 - $94,909. Salary commensurate with education and experience. *Salaries for eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
