Position Information:Description & Details: North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications, nominations, and inquiries for an Assistant Professor of Practice position in the Counselor Education program, with a primary focus on Addictions Counseling. This position will begin on August 16, 2026, or as negotiated. We welcome candidates with a primary specialty in addictions counseling and complementary experience in clinical mental health counseling, teaching, and program development. The successful candidate will contribute to NDSU’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and excellence in counselor preparation. We seek a collegial professional who enjoys collaboration with faculty, students, and community partners, and who is committed to supporting the development of a new addictions specialty track within our Counselor Education program. The Counselor Education program offers a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. Our Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Counselor Education and Supervision programs are accredited by CACREP. We are hoping to grow our program and our ability to contribute high quality practitioners to the work force. We maintain an exceptional learning environment by balancing high expectations with high levels of support. Each year, we admit approximately 20 master’s students and a selective, diverse cohort of doctoral students. RESPONSIBILITIES. This is a 10-month professor-of-practice position as a core faculty member in our masters and doctoral counselor education and supervision program. Responsibilities include coordinating the newly established addictions counseling track (providing day-to-day leadership, supervision, and administrative duties), coordinating internship field experiences, teaching clinical and addictions counseling courses (summer teaching may be available), advising, supervising students, and serving the university as well as the profession.
