Academic Success Coordinator

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) supports the academic success of all Wartburg students while focusing intentionally on students who face barriers to academic success and creating programming for in-semester academic intervention. Responsible to the Academic Success Programs Director, the Academic Success Coordinator provides proactive academic and personal guidance to students throughout their undergraduate careers to address academic skills gaps, develop executive functioning behavior, and enhance socio-emotional well-being. This position is also responsible for overseeing peer tutoring and writing consultation services, including hiring, training, and supervision of peer tutors and collaboration with academic departments. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

 

1. Provide proactive academic support and accountability to students identified by academic recovery processes. Manage an on-going caseload of assigned students who fall into categories of academic probation, academic notice, and supported admits based on incoming GPA. (30%)
2. Coordinate and respond to just-in-time academic intervention initiatives through formal and informal referrals by conducting self-assessments and creating academic success plans. Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement academic resources that promote a successful transition to college and maintain those supports as needed. (30%)
3. Manage peer tutoring and writing consultation services including (1) recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and assessing student employees; (2) collaborating with ARC staff, academic departments, and athletics to ensure effective academic support; (3) assessing services regularly to determine gaps in student needs, eliminate duplication, and increase efficiency. (20%)
4. Maintain up to date documentation of work with students using Gateway, a Pharos360 student success platform. (10%)
5. Design and facilitate workshops for students on topics such as time management, goal setting, test prep, etc. Potential contribution to developing and instructing learning strategies courses for specific populations. (5%)
6. Promote and represent the Academic Resource Center and its services at various campus and community functions. Including participation with institutional committees, classroom visits, and at events such as Visit Days, Scholarship Days, Summer Orientation Advising and Registration, etc. (5%)
