ABOUT THE COLLEGE AND DEPARTMENT: LAHC is one of nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and is located in Wilmington, California. With an enrollment of approximately, 10,000, LAHC offers a wide range of academic and career educational programs, and transfers students to leading private and public colleges and universities. The Disabled Students Program and Services (DSPS) at LAHC ensures every student with a disability at LAHC experiences an academic journey that is accessible, enriching, and fulfilling. This is a fully 100% in-person position. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services or designee, the Academic Director (AD) of DSPS is responsible for administering the program. This position will provide leadership in the development and provision of appropriate support services to students and to ensure compliance in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The AD of DSPS will plan, organize and direct DSPS operations and activities; coordinate and direct DSPS funds, budgets, personnel, information, training activities, systems and reporting functions to meet student needs and assure smooth and efficient activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel, including faculty and staff. Monitor and analyze DSPS operations and activities for financial effectiveness and operational efficiency; provide technical direction and assistance in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and programs to enhance the financial effectiveness and operational efficiency of the DSPS Office. Direct and participate in providing technical assistance to students, College personnel and others concerning DSPS operations and programs; respond to inquiries, resolve student issues and conflicts and provide detailed and technical information concerning related funds, awards, applications, standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
In addition, the candidate must meet Minimum qualification for DSPS as per Title 5 requirement as follows: o Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, or o Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or o Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and o either fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically related to people with disabilities, or o completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a postsecondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, or o two years of fulltime experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following; Counseling for students with disabilities; or Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent. Desirable Qualifications SALARY AND BENEFITS The current salary range is $151,452 - $177,828 annually. The selected candidate will be placed on the salary schedule for that class based on a number of factors including but not limited to: education, scope and breadth of experience and responsibilities, skills, competencies and accomplishments in accordance with LACCD Board Rule 10509. An additional, doctoral stipend of $6,288 per academic year is available for applicants possessing a doctorate degree from an accredited institution. Benefits include medical, dental, vision for employees and eligible dependents, term life insurance, and State Teachers Retirement System programs.
