| Job Profile Summary Responsible for overseeing risk management at the organization, focusing on the clinical and operational aspects of healthcare delivery. Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive risk management program for the identification, analysis and mitigation of the system’s operational and strategic risk that supports and aligns with the organization’s enterprise risk management program. Works with leadership and stakeholders at all levels across the system to drive continual improvement and effectiveness to identify and mitigate risk. Monitors the electronic incident reporting database in support of the organization’s event management process. Ensures that identified clinical and operational risks and issues are communicated to local and system leaders as appropriate. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES -
Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures for the identification, collection and analysis of risk related information. Collects, evaluates and maintains data concerning patient injuries, operational risks, and other risk-related data. -
Responsible for the organization’s apology and disclosure process including guidance, education and process development. -
Monitors and evaluates systems to track, analyze, and report occurrences and unanticipated outcomes and formulate and recommend prevention strategies to mitigate identified clinical risks. -
Develops risk metrics and risk mitigation reporting for department level, ministry level and executive leadership team on risk management activities to the departments, ministry leadership and executive leadership team. -
Develops, coordinates, and implements professional education and training programs, and policies and procedures related to risk management, and other relevant topics. -
Directs and maintains compliance with federal, state, local and agency regulatory requirements related to risk management, including the management, investigation and response to events. -
Refers cases and incidents to professional peer review teams, as appropriate. -
Participates in, and/or leads as appropriate, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Apparent Cause Analysis for identified events to understand the root cause(s), corrective actions, and risk mitigation strategies developed. -
Recruits, engages, develops, leads, and manages assigned staff. -
Perform other related duties as assigned.
