The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in computational design and advanced knitting as part of the ASICS x Michigan Sport Innovation Center (AMSI). Reporting to Sean Ahlquist, associate professor of architecture, you will work on the development of novel machine-knitted materials towards the innovation and performance of footwear and apparel. The AMSI is a groundbreaking partnership dedicated to redefining the boundaries of athletic performance and sport science. By uniting ASICS' global leadership in footwear and apparel with the University of Michigan's world-class research ecosystem, AMSI creates a unique environment for discovery- where art, science, and engineering converge to spark transformative breakthroughs. Through direct engagement with elite athletes and vibrant sporting communities, AMSI's dynamic research ecosystem is committed to driving progress, shifting paradigms, and delivering real-world impact for athletes and the public worldwide. We are seeking passionate innovators and collaborators to join our team and help shape the future of sport science. This job is situated onsite in Ann Arbor and in-person work is expected five days a week. The anticipated schedule for this position is daytime hours Monday through Friday (exact schedule to be determined with your supervisor). This is a full-time, term-limited, position for one year, with the possibility of extension, subject to organizational needs, performance evaluations, and secured funding.
The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $62,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position.
