 Clinical Instructor Position Number: 975026 Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Anticipated Recruitment Range: Commensurate with Qualifications Position Type: Faculty (Teaching) Job Category: Faculty (Teaching) Organizational Unit Overview: The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science offers a baccalaureate-level CLS curriculum accredited by the National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The CLS department has two spacious, well-equipped teaching laboratories, a preparation laboratory, a research laboratory, and a student media room. The Department is an integral part of one of the largest and most dynamic health sciences colleges in North Carolina. Our college brings together a broad group of disciplines including Communication Sciences and Disorders, Physical Therapy, Nutrition Sciences, and Addictions and Rehabilitation Studies, creating a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and interdisciplinary learning. The Health Sciences campus also houses programs in medicine, dental medicine, and nursing. Faculty and students benefit from robust interprofessional education opportunities, cross-disciplinary partnerships, and a strong culture of teamwork that supports professional development and meaningful community engagement. A health sciences library is located within the same building and includes a dedicated librarian who supports faculty and students in scholarly work. Adjacent to the Health Sciences campus is the East Carolina University (ECU) Health Medical Center, a 974-bed Level I trauma center that provides numerous opportunities for clinical collaboration. East Carolina University is the fourth largest of the 16 institutions within the University of North Carolina system and enrolls approximately 27,000 students. The university is a major employer in Greenville, North Carolina (population approximately 95,000). Greenville is located about 90 miles east of the Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill) and 90 miles west of North Carolinas Crystal Coast. Job Duties: The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science within the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University invites applications for a 12-month, fixed-term permanent position at the title of Clinical Instructor. Primary duties will include: (1) teaching and/or developing lecture and laboratory courses as assigned within the CLS curriculum, (2) overseeing clinical education experiences within the CLS curriculum as needed, (3) evaluating student achievement, (4) participating in curriculum and policy development and (5) assessing program outcomes. Contingent upon availability of funds. Minimum Education/Experience: Masters degree in medical laboratory science, education, or a closely related field License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: None Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: PhD or other doctoral degree in Medical Laboratory Science or closely related field; MLS/MT generalist certification; teaching experience (classroom and/or laboratory); expertise in Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, and/or Molecular Diagnostics Special Instructions to Applicant: East Carolina University requires applicants to submit a candidate profile online in order to be considered for the position.
