Physical Education Teacher & Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science, kinesiology, or a closely related field. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.

Experience: 

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in education and practical experience and proficiency in teaching fine and gross motor skills. 
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in coaching high school, and/or collegiate basketball teams.

Salary: $80,439 - $96,381 (All levels of experience are welcome to apply. Salary is based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise.)

Specific Skills:

• Interpersonal Skills:  Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflict; maintaining confidentiality; listening to others without interrupting; keeping emotions under control; remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.  Demonstrated ability to successfully work with and teach middle school and upper school students.
• Language Skills:  Ability to communicate fluently both verbally and in writing in English.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from students, staff and parents.
• Computer Skills:  Proficient with everyday digital tools, including email, cloud?based platforms, internet research, word?processing and spreadsheet applications, and school?based systems such as MS Word and Veracross. Experienced in using contemporary teaching and coaching technologies that support student wellness, skill development, and performance tracking.
• Other Skills and Abilities:  Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction and of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of adolescent students, as well as knowledge of effective behavior management methods. Demonstrated ability to participate in physically demanding athletic activities. Ability to meet timelines and exercise good judgment while working in a dynamic environment.

Certifications/Licenses:  CPR, First Aid, AED, Concussion Certification
