Students complete Algebra 1 alongside mathematical thinking skills over a two-year program in grades seven and eight. We offer leveled Algebra sections, including intentional differentiation and an enriched pathway for extra challenge offered in every math class, providing flexible access to extended challenge opportunities to all students. 8th graders also have the option to enroll in Geometry as a second mathematics course for additional acceleration as they prepare for high school.
Graduates leave Mark Day School well prepared for advanced coursework in their first year at area independent and public high schools. Students learn to apply creative mathematical problem-solving in both theoretical and real-world contexts, persevere in solving novel problems by employing a variety of mathematical tools and strategies, communicate and critique mathematical thinking and reasoning, and collect and analyze data.

Compensation and Salary Range Mark Day School places faculty on a published internal salary scale with steps based on years of experience in education. The salary range for this part-time position is $22,500-$47,400, depending on experience.
