Executive Summary

The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course (KSC), one of Asia’s most respected and high?performing public golfing destinations, is seeking an experienced Fleet & Equipment Manager to lead the strategic and operational management of its equipment assets. This role oversees a substantial fleet—200+ golf carts and a full suite of turf maintenance machinery—and leads a workshop team of 9 mechanics.

The successful candidate will bring a balanced blend of technical expertise, leadership capability, and commercial discipline, contributing directly to the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient equipment operations across a 54-hole championship facility.

Organisation Overview

The equipment operation is central to delivering championship-level turf conditions and daily course readiness.

The Fleet & Equipment Manager plays a pivotal leadership role, ensuring that all mechanical assets—from golf carts to greens mowers—are maintained to the highest operational and safety standards.

Role Purpose

To provide strategic leadership and hands-on oversight of the golf course’s entire equipment fleet. The Fleet & Equipment Manager is accountable for equipment reliability, safety, preventative maintenance planning, workshop performance, cost management, and long-term asset lifecycle planning.

The role requires strong coordination with agronomy and operations teams and thrives in a multinational, multicultural working environment.

Scope & Reporting

• Reports to: Head of Agronomy
• Direct Reports: 9 mechanics/technicians
• Fleet Portfolio:
• 200+ golf carts
• Turf maintenance machinery (greens, tees, fairway, rough units)
• Utility vehicles, tractors, sprayers
• Small engine equipment & workshop tooling
• Key Stakeholders: Agronomy team, Course Operations, Finance, Procurement, HSE, OEM suppliers, service providers

Key Responsibilities

1. Operational & Technical Leadership

• Lead the full lifecycle maintenance program for all equipment.
• Oversee diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance schedules, and major overhauls.
• Maintain high workshop standards related to safety, tooling, documentation, and equipment availability.
• Manage charging systems, battery health, and infrastructure for the golf cart fleet.

2. Team Leadership

• Supervise and develop a team of 9 mechanics, including training, skill development, and performance management.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Set workshop KPIs and ensure adherence to operational standards.

3. Financial & Asset Management

• Develop annual operating and capital budgets.
• Create data-driven equipment lifecycle and replacement plans.
• Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, vendor relationships, and warranty recoveries.
• Optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) through effective planning and analysis.

4. Collaboration & Planning

• Coordinate with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure equipment availability aligns with agronomic and operational requirements.
• Support tournament readiness and high-demand periods with strong contingency and fleet planning.
• Prepare board-level reports and technical recommendations.

5. Continuous Improvement & Sustainability

• Implement reliability engineering practices, including root-cause analysis and failure prevention.
• Recommend and implement sustainability improvements (energy, waste reduction, fuel efficiency).
• Enhance digital recordkeeping through CMMS and maintenance tracking systems.
