Associate Head Coach, Men's Basketball

| Job Summary Concord University is seeking a qualified Associate Head Coach, Men’s Basketball, to assist in the administration, coaching, and continued development of its NCAA Division II men’s basketball program. This position supports the Head Coach in all operational, strategic, and developmental aspects of the program while upholding the mission of the University and the Department of Athletics. The Associate Head Coach will contribute to recruiting, practice and game preparation, student?athlete development, academic monitoring, compliance oversight, and program administration. The role also includes responsibilities related to budgeting, fundraising, community engagement, and campus relations. Duties and Responsibilities *Assists Head Coach with the following: *Assist the Head Coach in all planning and execution of practices, training sessions, conditioning, and competitive strategies *Coach a designated unit or position group and support overall team development *Evaluate team and individual performance and assist in long?term program planning *Organize and implement team?building and character?development activities *Coordinate the recruiting plan, evaluate prospects, and maintain communication with internal and external partners *Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations *Support student?athlete academic progress and retention through regular communication with faculty *Supervise off?season conditioning programs *Manage and reconcile team?related expenses *Maintain strong relationships with faculty, administrators, alumni, and parents *Participate in fundraising and community engagement initiatives *Attend monthly staff meetings and contribute to departmental operations Required Skills *Advanced basketball knowledge, including offensive and defensive systems, player development strategies, and game?planning at the collegiate level *Demonstrated ability to recruit and evaluate prospective student?athletes, including talent identification, relationship?building, and adherence to NCAA recruiting legislation *Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to motivate, challenge, and support student?athletes *Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with student?athletes, staff, faculty, alumni, and campus partners *Organizational and administrative competence, including managing schedules, coordinating travel, tracking expenses, and maintaining program records *Ability to analyze game film for scouting, player development, and competitive preparation *Commitment to NCAA Division II philosophy, including the balance of academics, athletics, and personal development *Ability to foster a positive team culture, emphasizing respect, accountability, and sportsmanship *Experience designing and supervising strength and conditioning programs appropriate for collegiate basketball *Strong problem?solving and decision?making skills, especially in high?pressure or time?sensitive situations *Proficiency with technology, including video editing software (e.g., Hudl), recruiting databases, and basic office software *Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching staff and athletics department *Professionalism and integrity, with a commitment to compliance, ethical conduct, and student?athlete welfare
