| Associate Dean, School of Education POSITION DETAILS The School of Education (SOE) at Lehman College seeks an Associate Dean to provide leadership and management to the School and the Dean?s Office. The Associate Dean will report to the Dean of SOE and serve as a key member of the School?s senior management team, and acts as a liaison between the SOE academic departments and units, and the Dean?s office. The Associate Dean supports the Dean with the day-to-day functions of the School, including efforts across the school to develop strategic planning, quality assurance and accreditation processes, outreach and budget development and management. The Associate Dean will also help to oversee scheduling, personnel and academic matters and will represent the Dean?s office on school and college-wide committees. This is not a remote position. SOE is one of the six schools within Lehman College. The SOE reflects the mission of the college in serving the Bronx, New York City, and surrounding region as an intellectual, economic, and cultural center. As the only public higher education school of education in the Bronx, SOE embraces a vision of preparing future and in-service educators, counselors and school building leaders to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse student population who themselves represent a racial, ethnic, cultural, and linguistic spectrum that remains one of the strengths of our state and community. SOE is organized in three departments: Early Childhood and Childhood Education (ECCE); Counseling, Leadership, Literacy, and Special Education (CLLSE); and Middle and High School Education (MHSE). SOE offers initial preparation advanced preparation programs in Literacy Studies, Mental Health and Educational Leadership, including a doctorate in Organizational Leadership. SOE is also home to one center and two institutes: The Bronx Institute, The Center for School-College Collaboratives, and The Institute for Literacy Studies, all of which conduct research and action projects in partnership with schools. RESPONSIBILITIES The Associate Dean will represent the SOE when the Dean is away and will support the Dean in managing all academic, accreditation and curricular affairs in collaboration with department chairs and programs coordinators. This will include oversight of educator, leadership, and counselor preparation programs, liaisons with liberal arts and sciences faculty for collaborative programs, collaboration with School partners at other agencies and institutions. The Associate Dean will work closely with the members of the Dean?s Office staff, including the Director of Clinical Practice and Partnerships, Director of Operations, and the Teacher Certification Specialist to ensure effective administrative operations and to support student success. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Co-lead and co-manage the school?s strategic planning process, in some cases share frameworks and recommendations for planning ? Provide leadership and oversight for all national and state accreditation activities, including Title II and annual accreditation reporting ? Supervise the Director of Assessment, Accreditation, and Compliance to ensure the effective coordination of compliance, assessment, data gathering protocols and continuous improvement efforts. ? Oversee the review of undergraduate and graduate curriculum change proposals from initiation through final approval, and serve as an advisor to academic departments on curriculum development, revision, and related matters ? Serve on the Schools Executive Committee, Chair the SOE Educator Preparation Policy Council and co-chair the Quality Assurance Committee ? Collaborate with faculty and staff in developing student success events such as workshops, symposia, and specialized advisement ? Assist the Dean in personnel matters, including assessment of potential new faculty and make recommendations regarding current faculty tenure and promotion, and professional development activities for faculty ? Cultivate and help manage new academic, advisement, and scholarship programs, including those involving collaboration with CUNY Central, including the Office of Academic Affairs, the NYC Public Schools, and NYSED. ? Serve as a liaison with the admissions, marketing, and alumni affairs offices to develop up-to-date print and media materials, including the review of SOE website, and implement outreach plans for enrollment growth ? Serve as a liaison with schools in the region to build partnerships for sponsored programs and professional development for educators in the field Other DUTIES Perform additional duties as directed by the Dean and represent the Dean as appropriate if the Dean is unavailable. QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS ? Doctoral degree in Education or closely related field ? Minimum of 8 years of experience in higher education leadership in the role of chairperson or program director in a university setting ? Evidence of leadership in accreditation; evidence of strong managerial, collegial and collaborative leadership ? Experience managing multiple faculties, staff, and collaborating with academic researchers and teacher education clinical practice sites ? At least 8 years of teaching undergraduate and graduate students, research experience ? Excellent judgement, discretion, analytical ability, and attention to details ? Strong record of scholarship, including writing, obtaining, and implementing grants ? Strong strategic planning, program development, data-driven approach and assessment skills ? Experience with grant procurement, supporting faculty growth, oversight of college-level programs and processes, marketing, and program development. Appointment to the position may be accompanied with an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor, and tenure may be granted upon appointment to the faculty title, depending on qualifications and experience. CUNY TITLE University Associate Dean COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary commensurate with education and experience, $92,419 - $150,000.
