JOB PURPOSE: With a commitment to the liberal arts curriculum and the students, the Associate Director of Employer Engagement oversees the College's comprehensive on and off-campus recruiting and experiential learning programs and will lead the development and direction of an innovative array of programs and services for employers, alumni and industry contacts. The focus of these programs and services is to cultivate, sustain and continuously improve external relationships with the Career Development Office (CDO), and College. The Associate Director collaborates with other Claremont Colleges regarding the joint usage of the web-based recruiting system powered by Handshake. This position provides strategic vision and leadership for a comprehensive recruiting and external relations program for the Career Development Office, primarily driven by the goal of cultivating exceptional job and internship opportunities for Pomona students and young alumni. This role advises employers on a wide range of marketing strategies, the recruiting process, and in creating job postings. The Associate Director is also a part of the CDO senior leadership team which leads the vision and larger strategy for the office. This position supervises one full-time staff position: the Assistant Director, Experiential Learning & Career Advising. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reporting directly to the Associate Dean and Senior Director, Career Development Office, the Associate Director of Employer Engagement performs the following essential duties and responsibilities: 1. Develop and lead the CDO's employer engagement strategy; cultivate and strengthen relationships with alumni, industry representatives/employers in a variety of industries to promote Pomona students and programs, and to identify internships, part-time, full-time and mentorship opportunities.
2. Maintain current knowledge of key industry trends and identify areas of opportunity growth for students and young alumni; share with career advising team. 3. Manage the design and delivery of programs, services, and major events relating to employer recruitment including career fairs, workshops, on campus recruiting and other career-related events, as needed, for job development and relationship management. 4. Collaborate with the Assistant Dean & Deputy Director of the CDO on the coordination and facilitation of the Smart Start Fellows Program. 5. Manage and oversee the coordination of the CDO's portion of the 7C Joint-Colleges campus recruiting program. 6. Oversee employer engagement in the web-based recruiting system (Handshake), consortium recruiting, and experiential learning programs of the CDO which includes the Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP) (fall, spring, and summer awards).
7. Develop and supervise Assistant Director of Experiential Learning and provide direction and guidance; make effective recommendations for hiring, promotions/salary adjustments, evaluations, etc. 8. Serve as a superuser for job promotion/employer engagement related platforms such as Handshake and CRM. 9. Collaborate with CDO colleagues to publicize recruiting events and opportunities via listservs, websites, student groups, and academic departments. 10. Act as point person for the Liberal Arts Career NetWORK (LACN) Employer Relations Committee and 7C Employer Relations team, ensuring membership compliance. 11. Oversee Career Development Office's role in promoting campus employment and work/study opportunities; serve on campus committee with Human Resources and Office of Financial Aid to deliver campus employment program.
12. Oversee and evaluate current technology to ensure the software maximizes efficient and streamlined services for employer/student interactions and for CDO efficiency. 13. Conduct student advising individually and in groups on issues related to recruitment/job search strategies; identify and address students' needs and skills; and formulate individualized plan of action for job seekers.
14. Serve on the CDO assessment team in designing appropriate data collection instruments; gathering and compiling data for statistical purposes; reporting findings to College administration, alumni, parents, employers and other interested parties. QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong commitment to working with a diverse student population at a top liberal arts college. 3. Able to demonstrate effective career advising to students. 4. Experience with prospecting, recruiting, and program development. 5. Exceptional oral and written communication skills combined with a professional and diplomatic demeanor. 6. Strong negotiating skills for recruitment and program development purposes. 7. Highly organized with extreme attentiveness to detail related to managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 8. Ability to take initiative, provide solutions, and perform in a deadline-driven environment. 9. Technological adeptness in operating computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook) and associated professional software (such Handshake, recruiting systems, SurveyMonkey Apply, Internet research, menu-driven databases). 10. Must understand federal and state employment and higher education laws REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday â“ Friday. Weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required for out-of-town conferences and events 2-3 times a year. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: This is a regular, full-time, exempt position. Annual Salary for this position is between $86,980.50 to $108,315 with a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
