| Position Overview Join the Residential Life team at Menaul School as a Residential Life Director. In this role, you will serve as a caring, consistent adult presence for approximately 60-80 international students, helping to create a safe, structured, and home-like environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with youth, enjoy a multicultural community, and want to make a meaningful impact outside of a traditional classroom setting. Key Responsibilities - Supervise and support students in the dormitory during non-academic hours, including evenings and weekends
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful residential community
- Build strong relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations
- Manage residential life schedules, including staff shifts, on-call rotations, and coverage planning
- Develop and maintain the annual residential life calendar, including events, activities, and key dates
- Oversee dormitory systems and processes to ensure smooth daily operations and consistency across the program
- Coordinate staffing logistics and ensure appropriate supervision at all times
- Plan and coordinate engaging weekend and evening activities, trips, and events
- Ensure the dormitory remains clean, organized, and safe at all times
- Enforce school policies and residential life guidelines consistently and fairly
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, faculty, and administration
- Support students’ emotional well-being, cultural adjustment, and personal development
- Monitor student attendance, check-ins, and curfews
- Respond to emergencies and handle conflict resolution in a calm and professional manner
- Collaborate with other dorm staff, faculty, and administration to support student success
- Assist with student orientation, move-in/move-out processes, and special events
Additional Duties - Provide mentorship and guidance to students navigating life away from home
- Maintain accurate records and incident reports
- Support student health and wellness by helping coordinate medical appointments, occasionally transporting students, and assisting with related insurance paperwork
- Support academic accountability by encouraging study habits and time management
- Participate in on-call rotations and overnight supervision as needed
- Help create and maintain a welcoming, family-style residential culture
- Contribute to continuous improvement of residential life programming
Qualifications - Experience working with adolescents, preferably in a residential, educational, or youth development setting
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity; experience working with international students is a plus
- Organized, dependable, and adaptable in a dynamic environment
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Background & Drug screening check required
