| Summary This position supports the Natural Gas and Energy Resource team by analyzing the utilization and optimization of natural gas and other energy resources in its long-term power supply. Additionally, this position will contribute to Chugach’s delivery of cost-effective, reliable, and environmentally responsible energy by managing medium- and long-term natural gas, storage and power supply analysis by developing integrated resource plans, forecasting, and making commercial recommendations that optimize margins, mitigate risk and support long- term contract negotiations. Essential Functions -
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to natural gas supply, demand, pricing, and market trends impacting Chugach’s natural gas supply and power portfolio. -
Monitor and review regional (Cook Inlet) and global natural gas markets, including supply dynamics, political influences, and emerging technologies. -
Identify and assess supply, commercial, regulatory and market-related risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies to ensure reliable, competitive and fiscally stable natural gas and power supply. -
Perform analysis of customer load, generation dispatch, fuel supply, gas storage, power sales, future energy and capacity resource. -
Assist in the development of long-term natural gas and power supply strategies that align with corporate goals and objectives. -
Develop and maintain comprehensive forecasting models to optimize natural gas consumption, production, storage and integrated resource plans. -
Provide analysis and planning support to various departments across the organization. -
Conduct economic analyses of power purchase and sales agreements by implement performance tracking methods and present periodic status reports. -
Assist in the optimization and development of agreements between Chugach and other power-producing entities by analyzing rates of return for existing and proposed economic transactions. -
Oversee the integrated resource planning activities, including assumptions assembly, modeling, team coordination and report preparation. -
Perform integrated resource planning analyses of generation, transmission and energy storage. -
Analyze generation dispatch within the resource planning, reliability and operating constraints to support power system reliability and optimization goals. -
Identify opportunities to enhance system and supply chain efficiency, minimize supply disruptions, and reduce costs through data-driven analysis. -
Propose innovative approaches to integrate and optimize natural gas options to Generation. -
Administer and maintain planning and operational tools including, the integrated resource plan and model, excess gas production optimization model, and customer cost model relative to fuel price. -
Prepare reports and presentations to communicate complex analyses and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors, leadership, industry partners and stakeholders. -
Assist in the development, implementation and recommendation of various Chugach plans (i.e.five-year work, long-range, strategic business, etc.). -
Develop and maintain datasets to benchmark internal historic performance and external industry standards. -
Review operating data in comparison with projections to evaluate accuracy. -

Knowledge of power system generation operations and modelling. -

Ability to work with department personnel to implement and evaluate system operations and recommend improvements. -
