![]() Advanced Practice Provider II Position Number: 400564 Full Time or Part Time: Full Time Anticipated Recruitment Range: Position Type: Job Category: Staff - Medical Organizational Unit Overview: The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Brody School of Medicine is the largest provider of HIV care to patients in eastern North Carolina. Our physicians and physician extenders currently provide care for more than1800 patients in our clinic in Greenville, NC. The Division is involved in many clinical trials involving HIV therapies. The Infectious Diseases Division works closely with ECU Health in both Infection Control and Antimicrobial stewardship. Education is integral component of our division. The division is involved in the education of medical students at The Brody School of Medicine as well as with residents at ECU Health. Faculty members and staff within the division provide education regarding HIV infection to high-risk groups in the community. Finally, the division has had an infectious diseases fellowship program since 2002 and is committed to the training of future infectious diseases physicians. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is aligned with ECU Health as a clinically integrated academic health care organization. This integration allows the two organizations to provide efficient, effective and high-quality care to eastern North Carolina residents. Job Duties: This position focuses on the evaluation and management of general infectious diseases, with specialized expertise in the treatment of individuals living with HIV. The position is structured with a balanced effort of 50% General Infectious Diseases (GID) and 50% Ryan White HIV clinical care, delivered within ECU Health Adult Specialty Care clinic. The position will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while supporting programmatic goals aligned with Ryan White funding requirements and institutional priorities. This position will provide clinical services and may develop clinical care protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with acute and chronic infectious diseases, working collaboratively with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary teams. The provider will deliver patient-centered medical care to individuals living with HIV in an outpatient clinical setting, with core duties including managing antiretroviral therapy (ART), addressing comorbid conditions if appropriate, and promoting improved health through prevention, education, and care coordination. CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT. Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b, 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers and State Employees Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability. While this position is not automatically eligible for the NC Teachers and State Employees Retirement System (TSERS), new hires transferring from another North Carolina state agency and current ECU employees transferring internally who had been enrolled in TSERS in their previous employment will continue participation in TSERS. These individuals may be able to elect to participate in ORP if they had not been offered that option at the time of their initial enrollment into TSERS. Minimum Education/Experience: Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and 'approved to practice medical acts' based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or licensed as a registered nurse by the Board of Nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the N.C. Joint Subcommittee, and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation: Approved to practice medical acts based on education and experience by the NC Board of Medical Examiner OR Licensed by the NC Board of Nursing.
