| Michigan Medicine Nursing is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative Magnet Staff Specialist to support our ongoing commitment to nursing excellence, professional practice, innovation, and high-quality patient care. This role is central to the success of Michigan Medicine's Magnet designation work. The Magnet Staff Specialist will partner closely with the Magnet Department team, nursing leaders, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders to support document development, communication strategies, evidence collection, project coordination, and preparation for submission to the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program. The ideal candidate is an experienced nurse with strong writing, editing, project management, and analytical skills who can translate complex nursing practice, outcomes, and improvement work into clear, compelling documentation. This position requires sound independent judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Organizational Relationships: - Reports directly to the Director of Nursing Professional Development & Education, Nursing Research, and Magnet Recognition.
- Collaborates with the Magnet Department team to support Magnet designation and nursing excellence initiatives across the University of Michigan-Health.
- Partners with nursing leaders, frontline staff, shared governance councils, quality and safety teams, data and analytics partners, nursing research and evidence-based practice teams, and interdisciplinary stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include: - Support the preparation, writing, editing, and organization of Magnet documentation for submission.
- Coordinate document writing, review, editing, formatting, and approval processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with ANCC Magnet criteria.
- Collaborate with accountable leads, nursing leaders, and subject matter experts to gather, review, and synthesize evidence related to Magnet standards.
- Conduct literature searches and synthesize findings to support Magnet documentation, nursing research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement work.
- Analyze clinical, quality, and professional practice information independently and collaboratively.
- Apply knowledge of nursing practice, professional governance, quality improvement, research, evidence-based practice, and nursing-sensitive outcomes to support Magnet-related work.
- Support strategic planning activities, meetings, forums, timelines, agendas, and project deliverables.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting established deadlines and maintaining high standards for accuracy.
- Lead or assist with selected professional practice initiatives, departmental priorities, and related projects as assigned.
- Assist with communication strategy development and execution for Magnet-related initiatives.
- Maintain effective working relationships with administrators, physicians, nursing leaders, peers, frontline staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Master's degree in Nursing.
- Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical RN experience. Documented experience supporting ANCC Magnet designation or redesignation, Magnet documentation, or Magnet program activities. Documented experience authoring, contributing to, writing, or editing scholarly nursing work, such as peer-reviewed manuscripts, grant applications, evidence-based practice publications, quality improvement reports, or other healthcare publications. Documented experience leading, coordinating, or participating in projects, committees, councils, workgroups, or interdisciplinary teams with responsibility for timelines, deliverables, or action items. - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Five (5) or more years of recent RN experience in an academic medical center or large, complex healthcare organization.
- Direct experience writing Magnet stories, exemplars, and sources of evidence, including evidence collection to support Magnet designation or redesignation.
- Experience supporting shared governance, professional practice model implementation, or nursing excellence initiatives.
- Experience reviewing, interpreting, summarizing, or reporting on nursing-sensitive indicators, clinical outcomes data, quality metrics, benchmarking data, or other healthcare performance data.
- Experience developing and presenting educational materials, training sessions, presentations, or reports for clinical, leadership, or interdisciplinary audiences.
- Certification in a nursing specialty, nursing professional development, nursing leadership, or a related area.
