CANDIDATE CHARCTERISTICS & QUALIFICATIONS Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES is seeking a visionary and collaborative leader who values relationships, leads with integrity and works to strengthen opportunities for students, component districts and communities throughout the region. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the following areas: COLLABORATIVE AND RELATIONSHIP-FOCUSED Builds trust through authentic relationships, values teamwork, and works collaboratively with component districts, BOCES staff, community partners, and the Board of Education. STUDENT-CENTERED DECISION MAKER Keeps students at the center of all decisions while balancing the educational, operational, and workforce development priorities of a complex BOCES organization. VISIONARY AND STRATEGIC THINKER Demonstrates forward-thinking leadership, brings energy and innovation to the role, and can guide the organization thoughtfully into the future. STRONG COMMUNICATOR AND LISTENER Communicates clearly, listens deeply to understand regional needs, welcomes feedback, and engages stakeholders with transparency and respect. SKILLED IN FISCAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP Understands the complexities of BOCES finance, budgeting, and state systems, while demonstrating sound fiscal responsibility and systems thinking. EXPERIENCED, ADAPTIVE LEADER AND PROBLEM SOLVER Demonstrates the ability to lead organizational improvement, adapt to change, expand services, and navigate challenges with confidence and steadiness. REGIONAL AND PARTNERSHIP-ORIENTED Understands the unique needs of the 25 component districts, values strategic partnerships, and works to expand opportunities and services for students, staff, and communities across the region. APPROACHABLE, VISIBLE, AND TRUSTWORTHY Leads with integrity, honesty, and humility; is accessible and present across the region; and fosters a culture of respect and support. Residency within the Wayne-Finger Lakes region is preferred. The Board values a leader who is committed to becoming an active and engaged member of the regional community. |
