The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master?s Degree (27 months program). CUNY SoM places a special emphasis on the recruitment of those who are underrepresented in the field of medicine and on training high quality, culturally competent health professionals and scientists equipped to address the healthcare needs of New York?s medically under-served communities. As a major priority, CUNY SoM also seeks to enhance the recruitment and retention of senior leadership, faculty, and staff to more closely reflect the diversity of our student body.

The CUNY School of Medicine is seeking to recruit (1) Institutional Research Director (Director of Academic and Assessment) in the department of Institutional Research Analysis (Effectiveness and Assessment). The Director of Academic Assessment, reporting to the Associate Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, is responsible for overseeing the ongoing development and implementation of assessment programs, projects, and activities across the CUNY School of Medicine. The Director of Academic Assessment will provide leadership and coordination for institution wide academic assessment processes, while supporting compliance with accreditation requirements. The Director collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, centered on robust and meaningful assessment of student learning, ensuring that assessment and accreditation activities are systematic, data-driven, and aligned with institutional objectives. The Director also provides information and analytic support to the school's administrative decision makers in order to facilitate strategic planning, re-accreditation, and institutional effectiveness.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the duties include:

• Lead the creation and implementation of processes and methodologies to assess student learning and evaluate the effectiveness of programs to graduate skilled medical practitioners; collaborates closely with faculty and leadership on academic development.
• Supports continuous academic program assessment (curricular and co-curricular activities) and improvement of student learning through consultation, mentoring and hands-on training, to strengthen assessment and evaluation practices across the curriculum.
• Coordinates activities needed for Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME),Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), and Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation and other specialized-program accreditations.
• Directs and coordinates on-going efforts to improve data gathering, reporting, and the wider use of college assessment results and data tools to support improvement of academic programs and overall institutional effectiveness.
• Develops, coordinates and maintains an annual calendar of institutional assessment activities,including workshops and other developmental activities for faculty, chairs and unit managers.
• Collaborate with faculty and senior leadership to develop, propose, and evaluate the school?s academic offerings and work closely with faculty program directors to oversee assessment and accreditation initiatives and to develop plans and workflows aligned with each program?s learning objectives and goals.
• Promotes internal and external communication of assessment results.
• Recommends and participates in the development of assessment guidelines and procedures.
• Participates in the CUNY Assessment Council.
• Assists the Associate Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment in assessment, planning,research, and accreditation efforts.
• Supports administrative units in their assessment activities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment or designee(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master?s or Ph.D. Preferred.
• Strong quantitative and qualitive skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills is a must.
• Experience in education and learning assessment in medical or health professions education.
• Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to work independently and attend to multiple projects simultaneously required.
• Outstanding oral, written and presentation skills.
• Experience teaching at the higher education level a plus.
• Knowledge of institutional and specialize accreditation requirements in health fields.
• Strong ability to collect, analyze, and present data in a cohesive manner.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required, Tableau knowledge a plus.
• Knowledge of statistical software a plus.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Directs College activities and operations related to Academic matters to support academic policy and student learning strategies.

• Designs, implements and monitors an array of academic initiatives, programs, priorities, and functions
• Develops strategic plans, academic program proposals, and curricular reports.
• Assesses outcomes to improve services and support student success.
• Creates and oversees academic support initiatives.
• Administers College articulation efforts.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and reporting requirements.
• Liaisons with faculty and professional staff in departments and offices across the college.
• Manages operational and program budgets; manages, trains, and develops staff.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $91,878 - $136,546

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
