The school prepares high school and undergraduate students for professional careers across theater, television, film, and related creative industries through rigorous studio training, intensive production work, performance opportunities, and collaboration across UNCSA's five conservatories. Its strategic purpose is to develop technically skilled, versatile, imaginative, and professionally prepared artists who can contribute to the evolving landscape of stage, screen, and narrative arts. The UNCSA School of Dance prepares talented young dancers for professional performing careers through a conservatory model that emphasizes technical excellence, artistic sensitivity, versatility, discipline, and performance readiness. With programs in both ballet and contemporary dance, the school provides high school and undergraduate students with intensive training, exposure to guest artists and choreographers, company residencies, and regular performance opportunities. Its strategic purpose is to prepare dancer-artists who are equipped to succeed in professional environments while contributing to the continued evolution of classical and contemporary dance. Together, the Schools of Drama and Dance advance UNCSA's broader mission to provide gifted emerging artists with the experience, knowledge, and skills needed to excel in their disciplines and enrich the cultural and economic vitality of North Carolina and beyond. This position supports that mission by helping ensure that the administrative, operational, financial, or programmatic needs of these conservatories are managed with accuracy, responsiveness, and an understanding of the specialized demands of professional arts training. Primary Description of Work While reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Budget and Fiscal Planning, this position provides business operations and budget management support to both the School of Dance and the School of Drama. The employee serves as the primary budget contact, procurement coordinator and properly advises the Deans on the fiscal policies and procedures of UNCSA and the UNC System to ensure effective stewardship of resources and compliance. The position manages budgets across multiple funding sources (state, trust, foundation, and endowment), initiates and tracks financial transactions, prepares budget requests and transfers as needed and where allowed, maintains accurate records, and ensures compliance with institutional and state guidelines. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to coordinate numerous financial processes simultaneously, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This position divides time equally between the School of Dance and the School of Drama, with adjustments as demand in one department increases or decreases. * This position sits within the organizational chart of the Office of the Provost. Minimum Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications 035300 Terms of Employment EN 16.00 12 Month Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of budget management, financial reconciliation, procurement, travel, reimbursement, vendor payment, and general business operations. The position requires the ability to manage multiple funding sources, including state, trust, foundation, and endowment funds, while ensuring compliance with applicable university, UNC System, and State of North Carolina policies and procedures. The candidate must be skilled in financial tracking, expenditure review, encumbrance monitoring, budget reporting, transaction research, documentation management, and the preparation of clear financial summaries for leadership. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn and use enterprise financial systems are required. Experience with Banner Finance, Power BI, Emburse Chrome River, PeopleAdmin, or similar systems is preferred. The candidate must be able to interpret policy, apply sound judgment, maintain accurate records, identify fiscal issues, and communicate budgetary information clearly to non-financial audiences. The role requires excellent organization, attention to detail, discretion, responsiveness, problem-solving ability, and a strong customer-service orientation. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with Deans, faculty, staff, central administrative offices, and external vendors while managing competing priorities across both the School of Dance and the School of Drama.
