Available Title(s): 161-NN_FACULTY - Scholarly Assistant Professor - Career, 162-NN_FACULTY - Scholarly Associate Professor - Career, 163-NN_FACULTY - Scholarly Professor - Career Business Title: Career Track Scholarly Assistant/Associate/Professor in Accounting and Director of Accounting Relations | Carson College of Business Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month Position Details: The Opportunity: The Carson College of Business at Washington State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track faculty position at the Pullman campus. This open-rank career-track appointment includes serving as Director of Accounting Relations and supporting the Department of Accounting. The successful candidate will lead efforts to advance student success in the department, collaborate with accounting faculty and staff, and contribute to the growth and opportunities for students in the accounting profession. Appointment rank will be at the career-track assistant, associate, or full professor level, based on qualifications. The position carries a renewable 3-year term, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026, with the opportunity for a pre-academic appointment starting on August 1, 2026. Duties: The successful candidate will support and grow Accounting Relations through teaching and service. Specific responsibilities include: Teaching (40%): Teach undergraduate courses in accounting or business. Service (60%): The individual will direct and manage all aspects of the Accounting Connections program in collaboration with the department chair and serve as an institutional relationship director to connect students, faculty, employers, alumni and others for the purpose of advancing the strategic goals of the Department of Accounting and the Carson College. This position will be responsible for professional skills development and job placement as well as alumni involvement with the department. A thorough understanding of the accounting job market and the specific needs of public accounting, industry, government and other organizations is critical for formulating and implementing an effective strategy for professional skills development and successful job placement. This position has the authority to recommend a financial course of action and request expenditures for programs under management in compliance with the Chair of the department and donor intent when applicable. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for ensuring successful student recruiting, professional development and placement. Specific responsibilities will include:
Carson College of Business and Department of Accounting Overview: The WSU Department of Accounting has separate AACSB accounting accreditation. In 2022, the department established the Endowed Fund for Student Success in Accounting after receiving a $3.5 million gift. The Fund is intended to enhance accounting students' professional skills development, engagement with professionals, opportunities for internships and permanent employment, etc. The Department has a placement rate of around 90 percent with graduates starting in public accounting, industry and government institutions. The Carson College of Business is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive community that supports ongoing faculty development. All assistant professors take part in a formal mentoring program, with mentoring also available at the level of associate and full professor. Faculty and staff throughout the college have frequent opportunities for interaction and development at regular Lunch & Learns' and college-wide meetings. We are seeking a colleague who will be an active participant in and contributor to these efforts. Temporary End Date: This is a temporary position expected to end on May 15, 2029. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Annual Salary: Assistant: $95,000 - $110,000 Associate: $105,000 - $125,000 Full: $115,000 - $140,000 Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The ranges shown reect the 9-month faculty base salary. A summer administrative stipend equal to one-ninth of the base pay is provided for year-round responsibilities associated with the Director position. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
