The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Type Full-Time/Regular Lab Supervisors play a critical role in the daily operations of the Engineering Product Innovation Center (EPIC). This position supports hands-on learning, research, and innovation by ensuring safe, equitable, and effective access to tools, equipment, and technical expertise for the population of Boston University including classes, student clubs, research and personal projects. Reporting to the EPIC Senior Shop Manager, the Lab Supervisor helps manage lab operations, supervise student staff, deliver training, and provide hands-on technical guidance to a diverse user base. The role requires independent judgment, strong operational oversight, and the ability to balance safety, access, and innovation in a dynamic academic environment. A Lab Supervisor trains students in multiple technical aspects of design and manufacturing as used throughout the prototyping process including material selection, machining, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, sheet metal, foundry, welding, wire EDM and various other technologies available for use in EPIC.
