Overview

Supervises building operations and scheduling of trade services, overseeing the maintenance, renovation, and development of facilities services. Provides direct supervision and coordination of custodial services, physical plant, and grounds activities to support the maintenance of buildings. Manages staff, develops procedures to improve service, plans and organizes work, and ensures minimal disruption to critical services. Collaborates with project managers, communicates with building users, and participates in handing over completed projects.

Required Skills and Abilities

1. Proven ability to manage and coordinate activities of staff engaged in planning and scheduling custodial, maintenance, and repair work.
2. Knowledge of facilities management, building systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades.
3. Well-developed critical thinking skills and the ability to utilize sound independent judgment.
4. Proven ability to maintain, manage, and prepare scheduling, word processing, and spreadsheet documents and reports.
5. Ability to work irregular hours, including responding to emergencies and special events.

6. Ability to work in a residential environment, able to navigate sensitive and confidential situations.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

1. Building management experience.
2. Experience supervising unionized employees.
3. Experience with systems such as Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft applications.
4. Experience in an academic, research, or medical facility setting.
5. Certification as Certified Facilities Manager (CFM).
