 Education - Adjunct Faculty- Continuous Applicant Pool Posting Number: A0000020 Reports to: Department Chair, Social Sciences, Humanities, Creative Arts, and Education Department: Arts and Sciences Education Classification: Full or Part-time: Job Summary: Uses student-centered instruction to sustain the specific courses and curricula mandated by the educational mission and goals of the College. REQUIRED IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION This course is held on site at the Benton Harbor, Michigan campus Essential Functions: 1. Instructs students in assigned classes utilizing instructional technology. 2. Provides academic guidance and counseling to students in cooperation with Student Services Personnel. 3. Maintains academic standards. 4. Prepares course syllabus and outline. 5. Monitors student progress. 6. Keeps adequate and accurate records. 7. Enters final course grades online. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned. Accountabilities: Under the direct supervision of the Department Chair, each Adjunct faculty member is responsible for satisfying the educational, administrative, and fiscal requirements inherent in his/her position. Job Specifications: Masters degree or higher in relevant discipline or subfield or Masters degree and 18 graduate hours in relevant discipline or subfield. Grade: Salary Range: $61 per hour Special Instructions to Applicants: The Adjunct Instructor Pools are for applicants who are interested in teaching in the future as an (part-time) adjunct instructor for one of our departments. The Instructor Pools are always open for applications. However, this does not mean that we have an immediate opening in the division. The Adjunct Instructor Pools function as a way for department chairs to view applicant materials in advance of a need and determine if the applicant will be approved or not approved to be added to their pool of eligible applicants. Should a part-time instructional need arise in each department, the department chair will look first at the approved applicants to see if anyone matches our needs, in which case they may make contact to schedule an interview. Adjunct faculty are not employed directly by Lake Michigan College, with a few exceptions based on MSPERS retirement program. All others are employed through Edustaff, LLC. If you are selected for one of these roles, you will be required to complete Edustaffs employment application and on-boarding processes.
