This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid Services.    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:    Verifies students? eligibility for all types of aid programs and resources (e.g., Pell and SEOG Grants, external and internal scholarships, student loans (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, Perkins, PLUS, and Private), work-study opportunities, etc.).    Supports compliance by monitoring Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and a variety of performance indicators as well as correcting and updating students? pertinent data    Assists families and students with their aid application and processing    Reviews, updates, and inputs financial aid information in a variety of sites and applications    Monitors and keeps logs of students? contacts for prompt and accurate response using various platforms and social media; provides feedback to improve services    Collaborates in the production of the office?s Policy and Procedures Manual (PPM)    Helps with the supervision and evaluation of support staff and student workers    Aids with special projects or activities as designed and assigned by the Director or designee    QUALIFICATIONS    Minimum Qualification    Bachelor&#39;s Degree required.    Preferred Qualifications    Two years? experience in a fast-paced financial aid environment    Experience with student database/on-line systems    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (with an emphasis in Excel skills)    Working knowledge of higher education software (e.g., CUNYfirst/PeopleSoft/Oracle, etc.)    A strong customer service commitment, leadership skills, and attention to details are essential along with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills    Must be team spirited, articulate, and flexible    Proven problem-solving abilities and ability to conduct independent research    Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population    The ability to work a permanent evening (10 AM to 6 PM) schedule is required. 								<description>New York, NY, 10176, USA,  Adjunct Lecturer - Communication Studies (Multiple Positions) - Part Time    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT    &quot;At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone?s responsibility&quot;    Baruch College, located in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is a senior college in the City University of New York, with roughly 16,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students enrolled in three schools: the Lawrence Zicklin School of Business; the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences; and the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. The Department of Communication Studies, located in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, offers two undergraduate majors (one in Corporate Communication and one in Communication Studies), an undergraduate minor in Communication Studies, and a Master?s degree in Corporate Communication.    The Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College seeks experienced college instructors with expertise in business and technical writing, advanced public speaking, and business communication to join the adjunct faculty pool for in-person sections of the oral communication courses (Communication 1010, Communication 2020, and Communication 3021).    Openings are anticipated beginning Fall 2026, with the possibility of subsequent appointments in later semesters contingent on teaching effectiveness, department needs, and enrollment. Well-qualified and flexible applicants may be eligible for a teaching load of up to 3 courses (9 credit hours) in Fall and Spring semesters. Summer and Winter teaching is often available-contingent on demand and department needs. Application to this position does not guarantee any offer or appointment. Applicants will be evaluated for being added to the pool of available adjunct faculty should there be a need to hire. Faculty are typically hired from the pool at the title of Adjunct Lecturer.    Responsibilities in this position include the following:    ? Teach undergraduate courses in basic public speaking, business communication (with a writing focus) or advanced public speaking in applied business contexts    ?  Provide detailed and timely feedback to students on weekly speeches and/or written assignments    ?  Adhere to a shared set of assignments, rubrics, and curricula across all sections of the course    ?  Hold office hours weekly    ?  Complete required administrative tasks, including verifying enrollment rosters, submitting syllabi to the department for approval and records, entering final grades, and completing any necessary paperwork in a timely manner.    ?  Complying with all relevant department, college and CUNY policies.    ?  Completing required ESPARC and WVP training each academic year    QUALIFICATIONS    Bachelor&#39;s degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:    M.A or PhD in communication studies, rhetoric and composition, or a related field strongly preferred. Applicants with a Masters in an unrelated field who have college-level teaching experience and/or extensive professional experience in business contexts may be considered.    College-level classroom teaching experience or comparable training/development experience required. Experience teaching public speaking, business writing, technical writing, and advanced public speaking strongly preferred. Particularly of interest is experience with and pedagogical training in large-lecture format classes with enrollments above 70 students.
