 The Carle Health Audiology and Hearing Services team is excited to offer a Comprehensive Audiology Externship Program for the 2026-27 academic year for current AuD students that are interested in gaining additional clinical experience with a robust Audiology and ENT practice in Illinois. 
 Opportunity Details: 
 
 We are pleased to share that this externship is a full-time, paid externship that offers a $10,000 stipend. 
 The Carle Health Comprehensive Audiology Externship Program will offer current AuD students the opportunity to experience a busy, full-scope Audiology practice that provides care for patients within Central Illinois. 
 Carle&#38;rsquo;s Audiology and Hearing Services Department offers a full range of comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation services including adult and pediatric evaluation, hearing aid services, cochlear implant and BAHS evaluation and fitting, ototoxic monitoring, vestibular evaluation, auditory evoked potentials, and newborn hearing screening /follow-up. 
 The externship will primarily be located at our newly built outpatient clinic in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois and the extern will work under the direct supervision of IL-licensed, ASHA-certified Audiologists for three academic semesters. 
 There will be opportunities to obtain clinical experience in our branch locations in Danville and Mattoon. 
 The extern will gain valuable experience treating a diverse patient population with various needs and will be able work with patients of all ages. Our Audiologists work closely with our Otolaryngology &#38;ndash; Head and Neck Surgery team and clinical observation opportunities will be available if desired. We currently have 6 Audiologists on staff and 6 state of the art sound suites, as well as dedicated hearing aid, cochlear implant and BAHS fitting suites. 
 We have 10-12 students that rotate through our clinic annually. 
 By the end of this externship, the AuD student will have gained valuable clinical experience/skills to be able to confidently work independently post-graduation in a clinical setting with patients of all ages. 
 
 Application Requirements: 
 
 Applicants must be current AuD students in good academic standing and have completed 3 years of education at an Accredited Audiology Doctoral program. Applicants must have successfully completed practicum classes that encompass audiologic diagnosis and treatment with patients of all ages.

Opportunity Details Summary of Key Leadership Responsibilities: &#xa0; Departmental Leadership &#38; Administration Provide strategic direction and administrative oversight for departmental operations, faculty affairs, and academic medical directors. Lead faculty recruitment, appointment, retention, promotion, and professional development processes. Develop departmental policies, procedures, and by-laws aligned with college and university governance. Foster a culture of shared governance, transparency, and professional accountability. Oversee professional development including annual evaluation and goal setting for department staff in employment classifications other than tenure system and non-tenure system faculty.&#xa0; Foster a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion within Carle Illinois College of Medicine that supports all aspects of the education experience including collegial relationships among students, staff and faculty.&#xa0; &#xa0; Academic &#38; Curricular Leadership Oversee the clinical components of the M.D. curriculum, including scheduling, faculty engagement, and student clinical experiences. Collaborate with academic leadership to assess and enhance curriculum delivery, student progress, and clinical competencies. Support mentoring of physician educators and promote interdisciplinary, engineering-based clinical education. Implement assessment strategies to evaluate teaching effectiveness and curricular outcomes. &#xa0; Executive Leadership &#38; Strategic Planning Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, planning, and faculty recruitment. Ensure compliance with LCME accreditation standards and professional clinical requirements. Represent the department on the College?s Executive and Senior Leadership Teams and other institutional committees. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all departmental activities. Qualifications &#xa0; Required: M.D. or D.O. degree with current medical board certification and current valid licensure. Five or more years of clinical practice experience; five years of progressive physician leadership experience within an academic setting. Demonstrated leadership in clinical practice and medical education. Strong record of ethical conduct, professionalism, and collaborative leadership. Preferred: Additional advanced degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.Ed.) or relevant experience in education. Clinical specialty focus in Pathology, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics.
