The Head Coach uses varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of today&#39;s student athletes. The Head Coach will hold themselves and the team accountable to the standards and guidance of the  NJCAA  Code of Conduct, the Frederick Community College ( FCC ) Code of Student Conduct, and department and team rules as outlined in the Student-Athlete Handbook and the  FCC  Handbook for Coaches. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These duties are intended only as examples of the various types of job duties to be performed. The omission of the specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is a similar, related or logical assignment to the position. The following are the functions essential to performing this job: 1. Provide leadership and coaching expertise to prepare the men&#39;s basketball team to represent the College in an exemplary manner at practice sessions and scheduled athletic contests. 2. Establish and communicate the team&#39;s standards, expectations, and accountability processes. 3. Cultivate an environment that promotes accountability, good sportsmanship, open communication, team discipline, and respect for student-athletes who participate in the College&#39;s athletic teams. 4. Recruit prospective student-athletes year-round through continuous visits to area high schools and other outreach efforts, in accordance with  NJCAA ,  FCC  Department of Athletics, College, and State of Maryland guidelines, while developing and implementing comprehensive recruiting strategies through approaching recruiting databases and required training. 5. Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and collaborate with the Athletic Department&#39;s Compliance/Academic Advisor to promote the academic success of all student-athletes, making appropriate referrals to campus resources for those in need of academic support. 6. Perform a variety of administrative responsibilities by collaborating with the Director of Athletics and department staff, including (but not limited to): Managing meal money, requesting transportation, and scheduling scrimmages and non-league contests. Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Athletics &#38; Communications to complete, maintain, and report team and individual statistics as required by the Maryland Junior College ( MDJUCO ) Conference Operating Code. Track and update athletic support staff regarding student-athlete transfer records, enrollment statuses, and transitions to other institutions 7. Uphold and enforce all the rules of the  NJCAA  Code of Conduct, the Frederick Community College Code of Student Conduct, and department and team rules as described in the Student-Athlete Handbook and the  FCC  Handbook for Coaches. 8. Support student-athletes with the transfer process to senior institutions, including but not limited to making contacts, sending videos, writing letters of recommendation, and requesting scholarship information. 9. Field and maintain a minimum of 10-12 eligible student-athletes to sustain the team throughout the season, adhering to academic guidelines for participation in compliance with  NJCAA  standards. 10. Conduct team practice sessions that are stimulating and encourage skill development and teamwork. 11. Attend and participate in professional development opportunities related to your position. 12. Interact with the Athletic Training Staff as needed.
