Position Summary

Posting Note: The Division of Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care at Phoenix Children’s has grown dramatically over the past two decades, emerging as a cornerstone of pediatric health care in Arizona. Since opening our first free-standing hospital in 2002, our emergency department on the Thomas Campus is the state’s only free-standing Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, seeing over 80,000 children each year. As the Phoenix metro area continues to grow, so does our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. We’ve added a free-standing emergency department in the West Valley in 2023 with an annual volume of 50,000 visits. A new satellite free-standing children’s hospital opened in Northwest Phoenix in 2024 with an annual volume of 30,000 visits accompanied by 24/7 pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) coverage, operating room, inpatient floor and pediatric ICU. In our mission to bring expert care closer to the families across the region, we are expecting to open an additional satellite free-standing children’s hospital in East Valley of Phoenix in late 2026/early 2027. Beyond emergency services, our four urgent care centers located across the Valley offer families convenient access to pediatric care for less critical needs. Staffed by experienced pediatricians and advanced practice providers (APPs), these centers are open evenings on weekdays and throughout the weekend to serve families when their pediatrician’s office is closed. Our team of nealry 100 dedicated providers—including PEM physicians, general pediatricians and APPs—creates a supportive, collaborative environment that focuses on providing compassionate, child-centered care. Through Phoenix Children’s Medical Group, we collaborate with a vast network of pediatric subspecialties to ensure our patients have access to comprehensive expertise for both urgent and complex medical needs. We are deeply committed to advancing pediatric emergency medicine through our accredited PEM fellowship program, which trains four fellows annually. Our partnerships with the residency programs at Phoenix Children’s and Valleywise, HonorHealth and Dignity Health, and medical students from the University of Arizona and Mayo Clinic, make our Division a vibrant center of education and research.
The staff physician shall provide patient care services and will support the Phoenix Children's mission of providing hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families.
