								<description>Hillsborough, North Carolina,  Job Summary The Line Technician&#xa0;performs diverse work erecting, repairing, and operating distribution and transmission facilities. &#xa0;Performs various work on energized lines, structures, and equipment involving electricity distribution. Responsible for and must be knowledgeable of all voltage classes.&#xa0; Essential Duties 
 
 Maintain strict compliance with all safety regulations and work conditions.&#xa0; 
 Establish and maintain reliable electric systems and distribution voltages under direct supervision.&#xa0; 
 Must be proficient at operating all types of equipment used in line work.&#xa0; 
 Ability to make some decisions in the application of standards.&#xa0; 
 Must be able to provide instruction to ground workers or others of a lower classification.&#xa0; 
 Able to develop limited knowledge of substation operations.&#xa0; 
 Must have knowledge of circuit feeds and opening points.&#xa0; 
 Must be available for rotating on-call duty and power restoration.&#xa0; 
 Must be able to perform any duties associated with the previous classification.&#xa0; 
 Must follow all PEMC safety regulations.&#xa0; 
 Must perform construction and maintenance activities on overhead and underground construction lines under direct supervision. 
 May occasionally be asked to lead the crew in absence of the crew leader. &#xa0; 
 Responsible and safe operation and maintenance of all assigned tools and equipment used and assigned. 
 Assist with direct power restoration, occasionally in inclement and extreme weather conditions. 
 Participate in Operations&#39; on-call rotation as scheduled and in emergency power restoration events as needed. 
 Review and complete (as needed): staking sheets, inspection reports, vehicle inspections, accident, near miss, injury, and incident reports. 
 Additional duties as needed and assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements 
 
 High school diploma or equivalent education required 
 Completion of Electrical Line Worker Training Program 
 Current and valid Commercial Driver&#8217;s License (CDL) with DOT Medical Card. Required to maintain a clean driving record. 
 BLS/CPR certification required 
 1+ years of lineman experience required 
 Experience with operating and maintaining hand tools and heavy equipment required 
 Experience with construction of overhead and underground electrical transmission lines required 
 Must have the ability to complete Pole Top &#38; Bucket Rescue emergencies in 5 minutes or less 
 Substation repair and maintenance knowledge and skills are required 
 Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, perform basic math, use critical thinking skills, and have excellent written and verbal communication techniques 
 Must be able to lift, push and pull 50+ lbs., and withstand working outdoors in a variety (occasionally hazardous and inclement) weather conditions 
 Must reside within a 30-minute commute of PEMC&#39;s HQ office (located at 2500 Highway 86 S. Hillsborough, NC 27278)</description>

								<description>Hillsborough, North Carolina,  Job Summary Serve as an apprentice to a lineman while learning the basics of line construction and groundwork. This is the entry-level position in the apprentice lineman training program.&#xa0; Within 6 months of entry, progress and development will be assessed to determine if the incumbent has the ability to continue in the step program. Essential Duties: 
 
 Learn and develop skillset to safely operate all assigned power tools 
 Develop recognition of the hazards associated with job assignments, and adhere to all safety requirements and regulations 
 Learn and understand the sequence of work assignments. 
 Exhibit adequate proficiency with performing basic skills, such as operating a hoist, pulling guy wire, splicing OH and UG wire, installing anchors and meter bases 
 Obtain certifications in Standard FA and First Aid/CPR/BLS 
 At the conclusion of the first skill-based step (approx. 6 months), begin training on pole climbing de-energized poles 
 At the conclusion of the skill-based step program, and 6 months as a C-Lineman (approx. 18 months), demonstrate an adequate level of climbing skills 
 Assist with power restoration on a rotating on-call basis as needed and in emergencies 
 Additional duties as needed and assigned.
