 SUNY Suffolk is searching for a full-time (10-month), tenure-track faculty Instructor/Assistant Professor of Accounting, beginning in the Fall of 2026 at the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood. This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college. 
 &#xa0; 
 This position requires expertise in the field of Accounting with preference given to applicants with a background in business, economics, and/or finance. SUNY Suffolk is a comprehensive community college committed to open access, equity, and student success, and candidates for faculty positions should be prepared to demonstrate their commitment to these values. Faculty are scheduled to teach based on the needs of students and their department, and may have the option to teach in different course preps in more than one modality.

 Responsibilities: 
 
 Planning and delivering high-quality student-centered instruction appropriate to an open-access community college. 
 Participating in curricular development, assessment, and revision at the course, discipline, and program levels, including assessment of student learning outcomes. 
 Engaging in assessment of college-wide learning outcomes and demonstrating the use of the results of these assessments in courses. 
 Ensuring that principles of equity and inclusion are integrated in curriculum and instructional practice. 
 Ensuring that student knowledge, skills and abilities are aligned with current academic and workforce best practices. 
 Incorporating engaging and appropriate academic technology into all modes of instructional delivery. 
 Maintaining a commitment to ongoing and research-based professional development in pedagogy and subject matter. 
 Teaching assigned courses in accordance with description published in the college catalog and the approved course outline. 
 Provides academic advising and actively participates in collegewide recruitment, student engagement and retention strategies (e.g. early alerts). 
 Scheduling required time to meet with students outside of class. 
 Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees/meetings. 
 Participating actively in the life of their department, home campus, and the college. 
 Fulfilling all contractual requirements related to faculty. 
 Other duties as assigned.

 Master&#39;s Degree or higher in Accounting from an accredited institution; OR 
 Master&#39;s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or related field and a CPA license. 
 Minimum of two (2) years&#8217; teaching experience in a college setting or professional/technical experience related to the discipline. 
 Familiarity with a learning management system and/or willingness to use the college&#8217;s LMS (i.e. Brightspace).

 Providing expertise in curriculum development aimed at teaching best professional practices for Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASACs) in accordance with guidelines set by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support (OASAS). 
 Assisting in generating and administering assessment instruments linked to course-, program-, and institutional-level learning outcomes, and demonstrating the use of assessment results in courses. 
 Designing and maintaining curriculum for the program, including developing course syllabi, organizing and maintaining classrooms to facilitate learning, and updating curriculum to meet required accreditation standards. 
 Performing institutional requirements, including participating in events and meetings as required, orienting new instructors, and planning events to promote the program. 
 Developing and maintaining relationships with clinical partners and other program directors, working collaboratively with external entities to promote student recruitment, retention, and job placement. 
 Administering and leading Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.

 Suffolk County Community College is seeking an experienced Human Resource Director to lead all aspects of employee relations within the college as a trusted advisor to college leadership, faculty, and staff, through coaching, training, and guidance on complex employee relations matters including discipline, performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and policy compliance while supporting the college&#39;s goals for engagement, retention, and strategic effectiveness. Reporting to the Vice President for Human Resources (VPHR), this key role will contribute in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, respect and an accountable workplace culture. 
 &#xa0; 
 The Human Resource Director is an exempt position; compensation will be based on the college&#39;s exempt salary and benefit plan. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision, vacation days, deferred compensation, and a defined benefit (pension) plan.

 Key Responsibilities: 
 
 Conducts confidential workplace investigatory interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses; reviews relevant documentation and evidence including, but not limited to, allegations of misconduct and policy violations. 
 Prepares comprehensive investigative reports with findings and recommendations. 
 Implements early intervention strategies to reduce conflict and foster accountability. 
 Assists managers in establishing action plans to address performance issues. 
 Serves as the subject matter expert to facilitate conflict resolutions and mediates disputes. 
 Partners with Legal Affairs, Office of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights, and other relevant offices on investigations and compliance matters, as appropriate.

 Provides training and guidance to administrators on complex employee relations issues, performance improvement plans, coaching and counseling. 
 Develops and implements investigation protocols, procedures, and documentation standards to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, collective bargaining agreements and college policies. &#xa0; 
 Facilitates and supports grievance administration, including interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements and preparation of responses and supporting documentation. 
 Collaborates with the VPHR to identify and implement process improvements to enhance HR operations. 
 Ensures consistent and compliant application of HR policies, collective bargaining agreements, and civil service rules. 
 Oversight of the end-to-end reasonable accommodation review process in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state/local regulations, and college policy.&#xa0; 
 Conducts timely and thorough assessments of accommodation requests including review of medical documentation, evaluating job requirements, and collaborating with HR staff, legal counsel and department leadership to ensure a fair and equitable process.

 SHRM Certification or equivalent HR certification.
