GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: The instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effective teaching coursework in nurse aide instruction, Health Science Career Academy, and the needs of the department as assigned by the dean. The required course load is 15 credit hours per semester (fall, spring). This position will involve a variable schedule between classroom, lab, and clinic focused teaching with primary teaching responsibilities during daytime hours. Teaching assignments may be split between regional and county center locations as deemed necessary by enrollment. The faculty must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures. Responsibilities will also include mentoring and remediation of current students and helping in development and implementation of departmental initiatives. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to maintain the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing training center coordination as well as work as a liaison between the Kirkwood Health Department and the College Credit in High School program. The instructor will be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined by the College's Quality Faculty Plan. UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES:
