As the Assistant Director, Parking Operations, you will:
- Implement and coordinate departmental strategies related to parking operations, parking facilities maintenance, enforcement, event parking, and transit.
- Collaborate with leadership to translate strategic goals into operational plans for parking and transit services programs.
- Monitor operational performance metrics, capital improvement efforts, and implement improvements to parking, enforcement, event, and transit operations.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations for parking facilities and transit services, including maintenance planning, inspections, operational readiness, dispatch, vehicle impoundment, and system performance monitoring for garages, surface lots, and related infrastructure (e.g., pavement, striping, signage, lighting, access systems).
- Monitor operational staffing levels, workflow efficiency, and service delivery, and recommend adjustments to support departmental strategy and changing campus needs.
- Support development and oversight of operational budgets and resource allocation strategies for parking operations, transit services, and related maintenance and improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate construction impacts and maintain parking access and operations, service continuity, and communicate operational changes to stakeholders and customers.
- Evaluate operational needs and recommend changes to procedures, facilities, technologies, and contracted services, and support implementation of approved improvements to enhance system reliability, sustainability, and service quality across parking and transit operations.
- Support and monitor compliance with safety, accessibility, and regulatory requirements; reinforce a culture of safety, accountability, and customer-focused service delivery.
- Assess operational needs for equipment, materials, systems, and contracted support and provide recommendations to leadership, assist with contract implementation and vendor relationship management, and ensure performance aligns with specifications, budgets, and institutional standards.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with campus stakeholders and customers, communicate departmental priorities and manage service expectations, and gather feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support evaluation and implementation of evolving technologies, automation systems, and industry best practices to improve parking and transit performance, energy efficiency, operational continuity, and overall departmental effectiveness.
- Promote and reinforce a people-centered culture that emphasizes safety, continuous learning, innovation, collaboration, community, and operational excellence.
- Provide regular guidance, coaching, and training to staff to support skill development and job performance.
- Establish goals, communicate expectations, assess, document, and provide feedback on employee performance, conduct performance evaluations, and recommend salary adjustments.
- Promote and ensure compliance with safety standards and monitor adherence to policies and procedures.
- Participate in the hiring process, including screening, interviewing, and providing input on applicants for regular, temporary, and student positions.
- Initiate corrective action when necessary to address performance or behavioral concerns.

Minimum Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, communication studies, facilities management, other related field of study, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in parking operations, transportation operations, facilities management, or operations management, or a comparable environment.
- Leadership experience supervising professional staff, supervisors, or operational teams.
- Experience implementing daily operational plans and managing resources to support departmental priorities.
- Experience coordinating operational logistics, such as event operations, construction impacts, access management, staging, routing, or service continuity across complex environments.
- Skilled in operational planning, goal implementation, and performance monitoring practices.
- Knowledge of parking and transit logistical operations, including parking facilities, enforcement processes, event parking, access management and traffic operations, and dispatch service delivery.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements related to parking facilities, transit services, or customer-facing operations.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial data and make recommendations to support leadership decision-making and capital improvement efforts.
- Ability to lead operational teams, support leadership development, and reinforce a culture of accountability and engagement.
- Ability to coordinate maintenance planning, inspections, and operational readiness activities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with campus stakeholders, customers, and operational partners.
- Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and ensure alignment with departmental goals.
- Ability to support vendor relationship management and service contract implementation to ensure performance aligns with specifications, budgets, and institutional standards.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience overseeing parking facilities operations, parking technology, maintenance planning, and capital improvement efforts in a complex or campus-based environment.
- Experience supporting enforcement operations, policy application, and customer issue resolution.
- Experience coordinating event operations and managing staffing and service coverage.
- Experience overseeing transit, dispatch functions, or transit services.
- Experience implementing safety standards.
- Experience managing vendor contracts/service agreements and performance expectations.
- Experience developing and overseeing operational budgets.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to parking, transit, and/or facilities maintenance management.
- Knowledge of University budgeting systems, operational processes, and institutional policies.
- Knowledge of parking technology platforms and revenue systems, and the ability to support system performance and customer usability.
- Knowledge of budget development and monitoring practices and resource allocation principles in a service operations environment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply continuous improvement methods to enhance service delivery and system performance.
