Overview Reporting to the Executive Director of the Career Management Office at the Yale School of Public Health, the Associate Director will work with employers in the healthcare sector. They will also advise students studying at YSPH in exploring career paths and developing and implementing their career plans. The AD will create and deliver a range of services and resources aimed at helping YSPH students find fulfilling careers and achieve success in their professional lives. In this role, the AD will: Employer Engagement: Work with employers domestically and internationally to create new recruiting options for public health career paths, generate partnerships, and broaden career learning opportunities for students. Through regular research, analysis, and outreach - maintain solid understanding of the job market and career development trends related to public health. Create and organize a way of tracking employer contacts and opportunities. Career Advising: Provide individual counseling to graduate students at every stage of career development and the job/internship search process. Through regular research and outreach, maintain solid understanding of job market for each YSPH department as well as career development trends across the healthcare field. Data analytics: Contribute to established processes to collect and report on data on engagement, impact, and outcomes. Assist with content for website as well as for annual reports and other communications. Coordinate the Career Office’s efforts to advance, develop, and sustain partnerships with key employers in the field of public health and healthcare in general. Stay on top of industry trends to identify employers to engage with for: summer internships and full-time positions Counsel students on summer internships to help them meet the practice-requirement as well as summer funding process for unpaid experiences. Provide individual career counseling, mock interviews, resume & cover letter review, and application assistance to YSPH students. Coordinate employer information sessions, coffee chats, on-campus interviewing and other related employer engagement events. Help manage the career management platform and assist with general program event planning. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Demonstrated ability to perform successful outreach to organizations, build relationships, and work collaboratively with employers. Excellent customer service orientation. 2. Demonstrated ability to design, initiate and manage projects involving a high degree of detail and requiring strong organization and time-management skills. 3. Demonstrated experience advising clients, preferably in a higher education or HR setting. 4. Excellent written communication skills, especially business communication. 5. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced and changing environment. High degree of initiative to identify opportunities to improve existing programs and processes and to develop new ones. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills 1. Preferred to have knowledge of career coaching theory and practical applications. 2. Strong computer literacy skills including internet research tools, social media, excel, and presentation software (power point) and career management technology and data systems. 3. Previous experience advising college and/or university students, including international students. 4. Master’s degree in higher education counseling with 10 yrs of experience highly preferred. Principal Responsibilities 1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8.
